The roof of the facilities, which totaled about 100,000 m², was waterproofed with Elevate’s UltraPly TPO thermoplastic roofing membrane. One of the requirements was that the roofing membrane had to have a Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) over 85. The SRI measures the ability of a material to reflect the sun's energy back into the atmosphere. Another key aspect was that the roofing material had tobe FM-certified. The white UltraPly TPO membrane chosen for this project easily fulfilled bothrequirements.
Spanish Master Contractor Tecnydeck carried out the installation in 6 months. A layer of 50 mm thick PIR insulation panels was placed over the building’s corrugated steel roof deck, followed by the UltraPly TPO membrane, which was mechanically attached on top of the insulation.
