SUSTAINABLE QUALITY

TPO roofing membranes require less energy during manufacturing than other roofing membranes. They do not contain chlorine and can be recycled at the end of their long service life. However, not all TPO membranes are created equal. A high-quality chemical formulation is key in this regard.

LONGEVITY

A properly maintained, properly formulated TPO roofing membrane, such as UltraPly TPO, has an estimated lifespan of 25-30 years.

NON-HAZARDOUS

The chemical formulation of UltraPly TPO has a stable structure and does not contain any hazardous substances, as defined in Article 3 of EU CLP (EC N°1272/2008). Unlike other thermoplastic membranes, UltraPly TPO does not contain chlorine, and no chlorine-containing ingredients are added during manufacturing. It also does not contain plasticizers that can migrate from the sheet in the long term. The membrane does not represent any health, safety and environmental concerns upon storage, use and disposal. Rainwater collected on an UltraPly TPO roof can be used for non-drinking purposes, such as to flush toilets.

CERTIFICATIONS

UltraPly TPO is Factory Mutual (FM) and UL approved. UltraPly TPO roofing systems have also been assessed for their performance, resulting in a variety of national and international type approvals and classifications, such as ATG, DTA, ETN, DIT, KOMO, FM, etc.

RECYCLABLE

UltraPly TPO does not contain halogenated flame retardants, chlorine, heavy metals or plasticizers, and can therefore be recycled easily. Manufacturing waste can be ground into “rework” and this can be incorporated into the bottom ply of the membrane during the extrusion process to produce a new product, resulting in a 100 % reuse of the recycled material.

FUTURE-PROOF

02

FUTURE-PROOF

Modern construction must be future-proof to meet the challenges of climate change, evolving technology and shifting energy demands. Roofs play a critical role in this adaptation. They must be designed for resilience and flexibility, able to withstand extreme weather events and incorporate new technologies like solar panels or green roofing systems.

SOLAR ROOFS

UltraPly TPO can be combined with any type of photovoltaic installation due to its reflectivity, high-temperature resistance and outstanding wear and tear resistance.

GREEN ROOFS

UltraPly TPO has successfully passed the FLL and EN 13948 test for resistance to root penetration. It is particularly well suited for extensive green roofing systems that use lightweight and low maintenance sedum vegetation.

BLUE ROOFS

UltraPly TPO is also suitable for blue roofs, where rainwater is temporarily stored on the roof and is slowly released to improve stormwater management. The heat-welded seams provide reliable waterproofing, essential for this type of application.

DESIGN AND FUNCTIONALITY

03

DESIGN AND FUNCTIONALITY

The proper balance between functionality, structural integrity and aesthetics is crucial in roof design. UltraPly TPO membranes are available in white and light grey, and can be fully adhered, ballasted or mechanically attached to the support by using the same and unique membrane. They constitute an excellent choice when seeking an aesthetic and light colored roofing system that is easy to install, maintain and repair, even after years of exposure.

OUTSTANDING FLEXIBILITY

The formulation of UltraPly TPO is based on a resin of polypropylene plastic polymerised with a high quantity of ethylene-propylene rubber. This results in a membrane that remains flexible even at extremely low temperatures without the use of polymeric or liquid plasticizers.

EASY INSTALLATION

UltraPly TPO is available in thicknesses ranging from 1.1 to 2 mm and in panels up to 3.05 m wide by 30.5 m long. Seams and details are welded together using a hot-air machine, which minimises the risk of fire. The membrane  has a wide welding window of more than 200°C at each speed, allowing the roofing contractor to complete welds consistently in a broad temperature range. This means that the membrane can be installed virtually all year round.

In addition, roofing systems using UltraPly TPO membranes do not require premises to be closed to the public (as it may be the case with other roofing membranes) and allow production on industrial sites to continue.

PERFECT FOR RENOVATIONS

UltraPly TPO membranes can be placed directly on top of old bituminous or PVC roofing membranes, or polystyrene insulation boards, without needing to tear off the existing roofing system. This simplifies re-roofing and significantly reduces waste.
