Cougnaud Construction, a French company specialized in industrial modular buildings, chose Elevate’s RubberGard EPDM waterproofing membrane for the roof of the ‘Cougnaud Campus’ in La Roche-sur-Yon, on the west of France. The site, which acts as their head office, is a true manifesto in favor of eco-responsible construction. With an area of 5,000 m², the prefabricated modular building houses Cougnaud Construction’s 250 employees since January 2019.

For this energy-efficient site, Cougnaud Construction imagined a new generation roof that would contribute to the reduction of the building’s overall carbon footprint. RubberGard EPDM’s service life of more than 50 years, its compatibility with green and photovoltaic systems and its chemical inertness that enables the recovery of rainwater were among the key factors that contributed to convince Cougnaud.
After a prototyping phase, Cougnaud Construction validated the implementation of the RubberGard EPDM roofing membrane, fully adhered onto the wooden roof deck. S.V.E.T., Elevate’s authorized distributor in the west of France, trained the Cougnaud Construction teams so that the membranes could be integrated into the modular process. Available in several widths, the EPDM membranes provided total sealing without any joints. Once onsite, crews only needed to use Elevate’s QuickSeam Flashing strips to make the sealing connections between modules.
Cougnaud Construction has since joined forces with S.V.E.T. to collaborate on the development of eco-responsible modular buildings. Through this exclusive partnership, RubberGard EPDM roofing membranes are installed on the modules at Cognaud’s factories. Onsite work is thus limited, costs are reduced and the thermal performance is optimized for the comfort of the building occupants.
EPDM is the most future-proof roofing solution when it comes to sustainability, performance and design freedom. Learn more about the role it played within this project and many others by discovering its benefits.
