Providence Courthouse
Providence, Rhode Island
More than a century after its construction, the historic Providence Federal Courthouse in downtown Providence, RI, required a new roof.
Managed by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), the renovation project involved strict roof system performance requirements including long-term warranties. The new roof also needed to be approved by the Providence Historical Preservation Society so that the look of the Courthouse’s original construction would be maintained.
The architectural team chose to specify a Elevate RubberGard™ EPDM Platinum™ System, a Platinum Modified Bitumen System (with PC-100 Acrylic coating), and a Elevate Batten Seam Copper Roof System (UC-3-2, 20 oz copper panels and battens). This modified, UC-3 metal system was created by seaming the panel 270° and stitching 2? wide battens to the seam in order to duplicate the building’s historic panel configuration. Each system is protected by a 30-year Red Shield Platinum™ Warranty, ensuring durability throughout the roof’s lifespan.
