As announced in the recent Marketing Bulletin, Holcim Solutions and Products Canada, A Division of Lafarge Canada Inc has introduced a standalone Number 12 (#12) insulation fastener to be used in conjunction with the Elevate Insulation Fastening Plate (TIS 1106) in warranted Elevate roofing systems. The standalone #12 fastener is identical to the #12 fastener that already comes pre-assembled with the Insulation Fastening Plate (TIS 1003).
Contractors who prefer to purchase the pre-assembled #12 may continue to do so, but those who prefer to purchase the new #12 fastener and plate separately will have this option. All Elevate #12 fasteners are FM approved.
Approved Uses of Elevate #12 Insulation Fasteners
Use of #12 insulation fasteners is approved into steel and wood decks for Mechanically Attached and Adhered applications using the appropriate plates for wind speeds up to 120 MPH for qualifying systems. See the Technical Information Sheet for the specific fastener for application instructions.
Elevate #12 fasteners and insulation plates may be used in new construction, full or partial tear-off, and re-cover applications at the listed rates. Elevate All-Purpose (TIS 1001), Heavy-Duty (TIS 1002), and Heavy Duty Plus fasteners are approved for insulation attachment in all warranted applications. Consult the appropriate building code authority to ensure compliance with re-roof requirements.
All-Purpose Fasteners Approved For In-Seam Attachment of RubberGard MAX EPDM
Elevate All-Purpose Fasteners are acceptable for membrane attachment of RubberGard MAX (60-mil minimum) into steel and wood decks in combination with the Elevate V-Plate (TIS 1103) using 60-mil membrane (minimum) in 10’ rows fastened at 6" o.c. Re-roof and re-cover projects require validated pull tests to use All-Purpose fasteners for attachment of RubberGard MAX. Pull test results and other project characteristics may call for alternate attachment methods or fastening rates.
All-Purpose Fasteners are NOT approved for attachment of non-reinforced RubberGard EPDM, UltraPly™ TPO, or Elevate PVC or Elevate PVC KEE membranes, either in conventional in-seam attachment or in InvisiWeld™ applications.
Refer to the Elevate Attachment Guide and Design Guides available in the Documents section of www.holcimelevate.com or contact your Holcim Regional Technical Coordinator at 1-888-292-6265 for additional information. When performance validation is required for insurance or specification purposes, the fastening method and rate must meet or exceed those in the listed assembly. Please note that not all warrantable assemblies are listed with agencies like FM or UL, and not all listed assemblies are warrantable. Warranty terms up to 30 years and inclusion of hail or increased wind speed coverage may require alternate fastening methods or rates.
